In March 2022 the Department for Education introduced the expectation for all schools to have a minimum core school week of 32.5 hours by September 2024. Woodside Academy currently have a school week of 31.25 hours. (31 hours 15 minutes)
Following the DfE’s guidance the Academy will be increasing the school day by 15 minutes per day from the next academic year in September, making the school week the statutory 32.5 hours.
From September 2024, the school day will start at 8:45am (as we are currently) and will end at 3:15pm for both infants and juniors.
Parents can drop children at an external gate in the morning. Staff will supervise the playground and make sure children get to the correct classroom and that no children come back out of school.
Please do not reverse your car or turn around outside the school.
All Years, including Nursery: 8:45 a.m.
Year 6 & Year 5 children will go out of the gate alone (unless joining parents collecting younger children).
Collection times will be:
All Years: 3:00 p.m. - from September 2024 3:15pm
Years 5 and 6 will be coming in and out of school on their own and if you want to meet them you will need to do this outside of our grounds.

From September 2024, the school core week will be 32 hours 30 mins (6 hours 30 minutes per day).
Unlike many schools in the area we are still open for 190 days of teaching in the academic year and we also have a large number of extra-curricular activities.
