Latest Transition Information

We are really excited to be welcoming you all into school next week, so below we have a few reminders for you and if you have any questions after then please do get in touch with us.

As we have been unable to offer our normal transition process this will now take place in the first three weeks of next term. So, we would like to invite your child in for two morning sessions on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th September (9.00 -11.45), we would then like your child to attend every day the following week (week commencing Monday 7th September), 9.00 -1.30 where the children will be staying for lunch (school lunch will be provided to Reception children free of charge until the end of year 2) and then your child will commence full days (9.00 – 2.40) from Monday 14th September.

Start and Finish Times

As you are aware guidance for schools changes daily and your packs were made in April so please disregard any times in your pack and follow the most recent times published on our website. So once your child starts full days Reception children will start school at 9 a.m. and will need to be collected at 2.40 p.m. Children that are attending afterschool club (this needs to be booked in advanced) will be kept in the classroom and taken down when appropriate.

Coming in and exiting school

I have attached a map of the school one-way system. So, you will need to come in our side gate (in the alley next to the school), straight up the path and into the early years area (please do not allow any children to play with the equipment). All doors will have the class name on, move along to your classroom and then send your child in. Please do not approach the teacher on the door, if you need to get in touch with your child’s class teacher, you can find their email address on our website Once you have dropped your child to their class, please exit as quickly as possible following the one-way system. At the end of the session children will be lined up inside the classroom in surname alphabetical order and handed over to you in this order. Please be prompt at collection time and move forward to collect your child straight away.

If you haven’t done so already, please return all paperwork in your child’s bag on Thursday 3rd September. We need the following:

  • Tapestry permission
  • Starting Reception profile

Children need a pencil case and will need to bring in their PE kits which will be left on your child’s peg.

We have created an area on our school website, under admissions, where you will be able to find a tour of the early years area and the reception classrooms, a story read by your child’s class teacher and our welcome to Woodside parent meeting, this meeting power point should be able to answer any other questions you have about starting school.

Kind regards,

Mrs Laura Pattrick
