Mathematics is taught as a daily lesson but we are increasingly expecting children to use mathematics in other learning. Mathematics at Woodside is coordinated by Mr Radford.
Mathematics is taught largely according to the National Curriculum as this is what children will be tested against. We follow the White Rose Maths SOL. All classes are mixed ability and children normally work on the year group objectives.
There is now a renewed emphasis on children having fast recall of their tables and we also focus on improving and consolidating children's arithmetic skills and knowledge for their age group. Across each unit, we want all children to develop their understanding of mathematics and their ability to put their knowledge and skills into practice to solve real problems.
We encourage parents to engage their children with real maths when shopping, cooking or decorating as well as making use of our online resources at MyMaths and Times Tables Rock Stars.

WOODSIDE ARE WINNERS OF THE THURROCK PRIMARY SCHOOLS MATHLETICS 2024
A very exciting and fun Mathematics competition was run by the Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock in partnership with the Gateway Learning Community. The Maths Quiz has been running very successfully for several years.
Our team of year 5 pupils scored the highest amount out of all the teams from schools across Thurrock.
This is always a tough competition and it is a fantastic achievement for them and Woodside Academy.
Well done to all Involved.
