Intent
The intention of the Geography Curriculum at Woodside Academy is to inspire children’s curiosity and interest to explore the world that we live in and its people, which aims to ignite a love of learning.
We work hard to provide an interesting and varied curriculum that interests and intrigues our children while meeting the needs of all backgrounds, cultures and abilities. From EYFS up to the end of KS2, the children will be taught various geographical terms both in our local area and worldwide.
We will create opportunities to link Geography to other subjects and staff will follow their curriculum maps to ensure progression throughout the school.
As a school, it is our aim to instil a love of Geography in all our children.
In geography children learn about Britain and other parts of the world and about features of the landscape, climate and maps. We use our links with Spain, China and Ghana to develop children’s understanding of the world. You can help by involving your child in route planning when on holiday and by talking about the landscape you see.
