  • International Week

    Tue 16 May 2023

During Woodside International Week (22nd to 26th May 2023) each class or year takes a country to find out more about. This year, because of the coronation, we are focussing on Commonwealth countries. There will also be food from around the world for lunch and for this we are choosing Spain, Italy, China, India and Great Britain. There will still be the usual baked potatoes with fillings and our amazing salad and fruit selection as well as the ever popular crackers. Lunches will be accompanied by a video from wherever the food is from that day. On the Friday children can wear national costume of any country in the world and to make this easier we are including football tops of any country (actual countries not clubs). Whatever children wore for our coronation feast should be fine.

  • Woodside Coronation Celebrations

    Sat 06 May 2023

Woodside celebrated the coronation of HM Charles III the day before the event with a special coronation lunch including our own version of "Coronation Quiche" complete with organic flours, milk and eggs and vegan favourite sausage rolls the king would approve of. The day started with a special coronation celebration assembly where children sang two new songs they had learnt especially for the occasion and Thurrock Masons presented the amazing Woodside winners of their make-a-crown competition.. Children and staff dressed up in a variety of patriotic, regal, and commonwealth inspired costumes and during the day we made a huge  human red, white and blue "CR" on our field captured by drone camera, had an official "royal" opening of our new trim trails naming them the King Charles III trail (KS2) and the Coronation Trail (KS1), and during the day every class had a session on an inflatable obstacle course hired for the occasion.
