KS2 Children Meeting Siblings in KS1 and EYFS
- KS2 children may be permitted to go to their siblings’ KS1 or EYFS classrooms at the end of the school day to meet their parents or carers. This arrangement must be requested in advance by email to both the KS2 teacher and the sibling’s KS1/EYFS teacher.
- Parents and carers are responsible for ensuring that their children know exactly where to meet them and which exit door they need to use.
- Please only request this arrangement if you feel your child is sufficiently mature, responsible and confident to follow these instructions independently and safely.
Medical Appointments and Leaving School Early
Parents and carers are encouraged to arrange medical and dental appointments outside school hours wherever possible.
If an appointment during the school day is unavoidable, parents and carers must notify the school in advance and seek permission for their child to leave school.
Medical evidence of the appointment must be provided to the school. This may include an appointment letter, appointment card, text message confirmation or other relevant confirmation from the medical provider.
Children should be absent from school for the minimum amount of time necessary to attend the appointment.
Attendance will be recorded in accordance with Department for Education guidance:
- Code M – Authorised absence for a medical or dental appointment, where the absence has been authorised, and the applicable requirements are met.
- If a child attends school and leaves during a session for an appointment, their attendance will be recorded in accordance with the relevant registration requirements.
- If a child misses a registration session, the appropriate attendance code will be used according to the circumstances and the school's decision.
- Any requests for children to leave school early should be made to the school office in advance and may not be agreed.
- In the event of an emergency, parents or carers must contact the school office as soon as possible to inform them of the request.
- Where a child needs to leave school early for a reason other than an approved medical or dental appointment, the school will consider the circumstances, and it may be recorded using the appropriate unauthorised absence code for the relevant session, in line with Department for Education guidance.
All children must be signed out at the school office by an authorised adult when leaving school early.
