The new SATS were introduced this year and we were pleased by  the attitude our children displayed as they tackled these much more demanding assessments based on a new English and mathematics curriculum which they have been studying for only two rather than the full four years. The measure of either "achieved" or "not achieved" the standard gives no credit for children who achieved higher or those who narrowly missed the benchmark. We noticed a number of discrepancies in the marking and are appealing where these involve children close to the 100 "scaled score" pass rate.  Unhelpfully, there is no comparison to former SATS with "achieved" significantly higher than  what was a level 4.
