Mrs Linda Gayler, a well-loved and long-serving Learning Assistant at Woodside died unexpectedly at home on the first morning of our close down and her funeral was on Tuesday 21st April at 9.20 am. In the circumstances this was just for family members but our staff remembered her by lighting a candle at this time, and we invited you to join us at home. Mrs Gayler was a very highly-regarded member of staff, who loved working with the children so much that she had continued to work on well past the usual retirement age. Mrs Gayler was sent home the Tuesday before we closed as a precaution, because she was in an at risk group, but it was only the first day of the summer term that we learnt she was in fact a victim of COVID-19. Having worked at Woodside for 28 years, Mrs Gayler will be fondly remembered by generations of children and staff and we are planning a lasting memorial to her in school.
