Every year (except this one) the Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock present an amazing concert of Christmas music at the Civic Hall. Aveley & Newham Brass Band and the Mosaic Choir set a high standard of musicianship as the mainstay of the event, with a wide variety of different soloists and other groups invited each year. Woodside Academy School Choir, usually accompanied by members of the school Steel Band, has had the privilege to perform on three occasions recently. The concert is not only a professionally organized, highly entertaining, moving, and very popular borough event; but it is a big fund raiser for the extensive charitable work the Rotary Club do for the people of Thurrock throughout the year. This includes not only support for families facing hardship but a regular programme of inspiring competitive events for the talented young people of the borough. The concert is always a very enjoyable event and we are sure the DVD will be both equally enjoyable and a good value Christmas purchase for you and for the people of Thurrock.
This year there is sadly no actual concert but we are honoured to have been asked to provide videoed items for a Virtual Christmas Concert which will be streamed from the Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock website from 4.00 pm on Sunday 20th December. Due to the restrictions we have had this term on children singing and mixing out of their class "bubbles", we have contributed items from just 2 classes. One is Mrs Conroy's class as our choir and the other is our after-school Steel Pan group who are all children from 3CB.
For the last couple of years we have been privileged for our choir and musicians to be part of the Grays Rotary Club Christmas Concert. This year it is of course a virtual concert but our choir and steel band are both involved along with an array of stars from the world of entertainment - actors and entertainers David Walliams, Bonnie Langford and Phil Davis, plus singers Ollie Murs, tenor Pedro Lopes a plus Aveley & Newham Brass Band and the Mosaic Choir, with us, representing the local community.
From 4.00 pm Sunday 20th December the concert can be accessed via a link on the Grays Thurrock Rotary Club website by a link direct to YouTube below

Access to the concert is free of charge but as the club is unable this year to carry-out any of its usual Christmas fund-raising activities, the concert and the website will also provide opportunities for voluntary charitable donations by the audience via our Just Giving platform. The following link should go right to the club website Just Giving page: Rotary Christmas 2020 - JustGiving
Please support this if you can and share as widely as possible.
We have similarly videoed other classes singing carols which we will share on Facebook and via the Lakeside Big Screen so that every class has a chance to display its talents and be part of our wider Christmas celebration.
