This was the first year of our new Monster Phonics programme. Staff have worked extremely hard to learn a completely new system of teaching phonics. Children have obviously enjoyed it and made better progress all round than previously, with 88% meeting the government's expected benchmark in the national phonics screening at year one. Their phonic knowledge will enable them to continue to progress in the understanding of reading and to have a life-long love of books. Well done!
