The autumn term is in full swing with the usual events, some of them in a different format due to the ongoing pandemic and the fact that we continue to have a number of live cases in school.
We will be having an actual Book Fair leading up to half term. This will be after school and outside if the weather is dry.
We will have our Consultation Evening and Afternoon. Both of these will be remote as this was popular and effective last year, but we will now be using a purpose built online platform for this.
At half term we will be re-opening our Holiday Club with a range of activities each day. Please support this is you want it to continue.
Straight after half term, on Monday 1st November we are repeating our popular "Scare your Teacher Day!" when, in place of the traditional Hallowe'en Disco, children can come to school in all those horrible costumes they are so fond of. We will be serving a Spooky Bonfire Lunch with meat or vegetarian hotdogs with onions and sauce or baked potato followed by chocolate dipped apples or creepy cauldron jelly. There will also be an outdoor disco at lunchtime.
We are selling poppies leading up to Remembrance Day on Thursday 11th November, when we will hold a silence in school and take representatives to local commemorations at the the war memorial. Children have been working on a poppy display which will be on show at Lakeside Shopping Centre.
On Friday 19th November we are supporting BBC Children in Need. Children can wear pyjamas etc instead of uniform in return for a £1 donation. We will be selling some of the more environmentally friends Pudsey items but we don't want anyone to feel they need to buy anything new or special and particularly not clothes which are only going to be worn for that day.
We will be recording videos of our usual infant nativity shows and junior carol services but will decide nearer the time whether it would be appropriate to also have some live class performances. If you want these to happen you can help by socially distancing, wearing masks, getting yourselves and your children tested, staying at home when unwell, and getting any available vaccinations for both Influenza and Covid19.
We will be ordering Christmas lunch for every child in the school on Wednesday 15th December. This will be roast turkey or vegetarian alternative. Please let us know if you do not want your children to have this, and, if your children do not usually have school lunch, whether they want the vegetarian option.
On Thursday 16th December we have an onsite performance of the pantomime Aladdin by M&M Productions.
Friday 17th December is our last day of term when children can wear Christmas jumpers and/or party clothes for their Christmas Parties. No need to send food but please book as school lunch as our kitchen are preparing the party food.
