We are a Bike It school and have won the Sustrans Gold Award for our work in encouraging cycling and sustainable transport. Every Tuesday morning we take children on a short ride, mostly on nearby off-road tracks, coming back to school in time for breakfast a free Bike-It breakfast. Mr Doye is our Bike-It champion and coordinates our cycling activities. All KS2 children are welcome to take part. They will need a properly maintained bicycle suitable for off road riding, with more than one gear, and a helmet. We will provide a hi-vis jacket.
We encourage children and adults to cycle to school every day and always take part in the Sustrans Big Pedal. The junior and infant class that make the most cycle journeys win a prize which this year was a trip to the Olympic Velodrome. During our Science week all our classes visited Chafford Gorge and many of the junior children cycled there and back.
We currently run a cycle club that focuses on the necessary skills for the relevant year group that we are teaching.

The school also has their very own smoothie bike, this is used to highlight the importance of healthy eating and gives the children an exciting and unique opportunity to actually make their own smoothies.
