We were fortunate enough to host a 3 day Gamelan project in the school. Gamelan are Balinese or, in this case, Javanese traditional percussion instruments associated with temple music in Indonesia. They include gongs, drums and various instruments similar to xylophones. We were able to give most of our children and a class from another school the chance to play Gamelan, and took a group to play in Grays High St as part of the Thurrock International Celebration of Culture. They will be playing at Thurrock Junior Music Festival with our choir and we hope to get the Gamelan back again next year.
