Race Night. We will be holding a Race Night on Friday 12th May from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. £2 per person £5 per family, 50p per bet. A bar will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own food.
The details of the event are that there are 8 horses in each race and there are 8 races. We are asking companies to sponsor a race for £10 which will give them some free publicity and we could display leaflets/prices etc on the night.
We then need to find owners for each of the horses. An owner can name their horse for £5 and if their horse should win the race then they will double their money.
If you are interested in sponsoring a race or owning a horse, please contact the school office.
The Quiz Night on Friday 24th February was a big success raising £456 for the school.
The Friends of Woodside Primary School were formed in 2004 and are a registered charity (Full charity name: The Friends of Woodside Primary School, Grays). The Friends run community events throughout the year which also raise money for the school. Much of the equipment in our grounds was funded entirely by the Friends. The Friends funded outdoor table tennis tables, a pantomime for all the children, a new projection system for the hall and reading books for all the classes. Regular Friends events include the Christmas bazaar, the Fathers’ Day and Mothering Sunday gift shops, the Summer Fete or, more recently our Inflatable Fun Afternoon. They also support our sports days, leavers events and Christmas festivities, providing funding and refreshments. The Annual General Meeting is usually held in the spring term and volunteers to serve on the committee are always welcome. Our current committee is Donna Marshall (Chair), Jen Ryder (Vice Chair), Jo Alden (Secretary), Julie Haydon (Treasurer) and additional committee members Kim Henry, Karen Conroy, Leigh Johnson, Rick Doye and Ruth Briggs. You can contact the Friends through the school.
‘Adventure Island’ wristbands are available to purchase from Ruth Briggs 07951 726554 for only £15, a saving of £12 on the big wristbands.
